Jewellery Care

A little care goes a long way. Here's how to keep your Roam pieces looking their best.

Hilltribe Silver

Hill Tribe Fine Silver is a high-purity silver (approximately 95–99% pure)  Its higher silver content gives it a beautiful soft lustre and makes it less prone to tarnishing than sterling silver.

  • Wear your jewellery often — the natural oils in your skin help keep the silver bright, so the more you wear it, the less it typically needs polishing.
  • Your jewellery can be worn in fresh water, including the shower or ocean, but avoid chlorinated pools and hot tubs, as chlorine can damage the silver over time.
  • If your piece begins to dull, gently polish it with a soft silver polishing cloth to restore its shine.
  • When not being worn, store your jewellery in a dry place, away from humidity, to minimise tarnishing.

Gold Plated

Our gold plated pieces are finished with a thick layer of gold over a durable base metal. To keep your gold jewellery looking its best for as long as possible:

  • Avoid water, including showering, swimming and chlorinated pools.
  • Keep away from perfumes, lotions, sunscreen and harsh chemicals.
  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
  • Store in a dry place, ideally in a soft pouch or jewellery box.

With gentle care, your gold-plated jewellery will retain its beautiful finish and be enjoyed for years to come.

Brass

Brass naturally darkens with time, creating a rich, antique finish that many people love. Whether you prefer a bright golden shine or a beautifully aged patina, both are part of the unique character and enduring beauty of solid brass jewellery.

To help keep your jewellery looking its best:

  • Apply perfumes and lotions  before putting your jewellery on as these products can accelerate tarnishing.
  • Remove your jewellery before exercising, cleaning or any activity where it may be exposed to moisture or chemicals.
  • Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place, ideally in a soft pouch or airtight bag when not in use.
  • If you wish to restore its original golden shine, polish gently with a brass polishing cloth or a suitable brass cleaner (Brasso)

Stones & Natural Elements

Natural stones and organic materials deserve a little extra care.

  • Avoid water and perfume
  • Wipe gently with a dry cloth only
  • Store carefully to prevent knocks and scratches
